SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 1/30/18

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

REGGAE

The first record we got really excited about this week comes all the way from Uganda and this one is here to really big up the youths of Africa. It's their rising star Rachael M with 'Mpalampalampa.' It's got a fun video for it too.

Living reggae legend Rod Taylor releases a new track 'It's Moving & It's Grooving' to the reggae beat & it sweet.

The real Virgin Islands vibe that we have come to know & love has returned from I Grade with their new riddim called "Perfect Storm". All tracks are nice.

Not sure what to make of this record especially of style of music. It definitely has a little reggae vibes to it. Was not sure whether to put it under the reggae category, reggae rock or reggae pop. In any case, if it shines light on reggae its ok by me. It's definitely a pop song with a reggae vibe. You can not deny the talent & voice of Sting or Shaggy for that matter. It's growing on me, it's called 'Don't Make Me Wait.'

DANCEHALL

TJ records releases the new World Vibes riddim. It has a Bam Bam vibe to it. Remember the song 'Murder She Wrote' by Chaka Demus & Pliers, well the riddim/beat is what it sounds like it's on. Maybe a bit more pocomania if you know what that is. In any case, it has a good vibe and it's a bit crossover too. Vybz Kartel, Shaggy, Konshens & Wayne Wonder have the top tracks.

KULCHA LATINO

One of my favorite spin offs of Reggae is the Latin stuff. This week we have one from PIPO TI & Forward Ever Band with 'Let Me Know.' It's a mixture of English & Spanish which can only help it go further.
