SHOK WAVE: March 16, 2016

Shok Wave, your weekly musical blog courtesy of Lance-O and Kulcha Shok that features Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Reggae Rock, and any other form of Caribbean based music

King Toppa is an American based reggae artist who has now released a new riddim called Victory Rock Again and the best track on the riddim is Tenor Youthman 'Mi Lion.' This is the closest thing I've ever heard to Eek-A-Mouse.

Stephen Marley's Youths Jo Mersa & Yohan Marley join all forces on the Ghetto Youth produced single 'Burn It Down.' A heavy track that has the feel of 'Make It Bun Dem' reggae remix.

Frenchie of Maximum Sound Records out of the UK comes with a sweet riddim called the Blueberry Haze. Christopher Martin's 'London Queen' is the BIG tune. Randy Valentine's 'Hold On,' Vershon's 'Bring Back,' & Terio's Maria' are the others. All tunes sound good. Decide for yourself.

Richie Spice has been a bit quiet. He's making a little noise with his newest single 'Mek It Burn,' on the Tenement Yard riddim, which is a re-release of 7 years. It's a similar formula for his hit tune 'Earth A Run Red.'

Clay is a solo singer out of Jamaica and his new single "Chat & A Gwaan Bad' from his upcoming album 'Art & Soul' shows some real talent & his versatility.

Dancehall

UIM records out of Jamaica is a very good & solid production. Their new Zen riddim is no exception. All the tracks are at least decent. The lyrical content isn't my favorite. The hooks & melodies are very good. The top cut is coming from our star this week, Christopher Martin and his hit 'Wine Like A Go Go.' Other stand out cuts are from one of my favorite djs in the dancehall Konshens with 'Protect Me' and newcomer Iya Champs with 'No Reason.'

Soca

Luta releases a good new song for the St Vincent Carnival season and the winers. One of my favorite Islands for soca music. Its called 'Inside Dey.'

Olatunji out of Antigua & of the Burning Flames fame joins Runtown for the remix of 'Oh Yay.'

Imani Ray

Ska

Skapital Sound out of Mexico, release a good new ska ep
