SHOK WAVE: Nov. 10, 2015

Our latest release this week in reggae albums is the Minstrel Riddim album. My favorite tracks are Natty Remo's 'Get High,' Ras Kokay's 'Hole In My Heart' and Purpleman (the long lost dj from the early days of Yellowman) 'Go General.' Perfect Giddimani, Ras Attitude & Fyakin also have nice tunes pon di riddim. I love the instrumental too with a nice sax over the track.
Here they all are so you be the judge;

In our new singles this week, Reggae is about struggle and it's a voice for the people and these songs today speak of the downtrodden, a voice for the voiceless by artists that are getting a voice. Here's new artists with tough new songs;

First a real life tune TWIN OF TWINS & DAN-I-SHOES LIKE MINE

O CONNO - NAH GIVE UP (Holding Firm riddim)   This song is about the struggle because we cant give up...no way

Notis (HeavyWeightRockaz) - Raggy Road This song has that familiar sound like you've heard it before. It has the traits of a hit that you already know. You haven't heard it though so gwaan listen

DRE ISLAND- M16 A conscious youth on the cutting egde of the Reggae Revival a bit harder hitting tune at the same time continues to show he's a bit more versatile musically

One Wrong One Right - Jah Lil is a nice new song with a good message and a simple & good melody.

Lastly in the reggae singles is this the biggest name brand single of the week. It's a re-release of an older tune from one of my favorite 70's/80's reggae artists with a few of todays dancehall stalwarts Linval Thompson feat. Bounty Killer & Sizzla Kalonji - Train To Zion. There's also a version that adds in Alborosie;

Our last release is an ep called Cali Acoustic Sessions from Cali Conscious which produced these two songs of favor in the surf and best tile saw, singer/songwriter & acoustic vibe of music
'Travel Down The Coast' With this song it's about that special craft that artists have in writing and crafting a song that hits home or hits a special spot. Cali Connscious does wuth this song  with a nice analogy of spending time with his girl. Here's a live version before it was released;

'One Love For You'  A similar situation here in the ability of the song to connect more in the message
